About

Perth Shelving has a simple mission - providing great storage products at low prices.  We've partnered with VISIPLAS to provide a great range of Picking Bins and Parts Trays supported by our All-Steel Shelving System.

We looked closely at decking materials used in shelving systems, which are principally particle board (timber), wire and steel panels.  Steel shelf panels were clearly superior, but in many cases much more expensive thaVISIPLAS 4 Shelf All-Steel Starter Bay, 2000mm High 1800mm wide clear entry and 600mm Deepn particle board or wire.  So the challenge became to develop manufacturing techniques that allowed us to make a steel shelf panel at a lower cost than competing decking materials.

We developed a specialised robotic manufacturing cell to produce our All-Steel Shelf Panel.  We then applied similar techniques, and different robot types to reduce the cost of the frames and beams.  The result is the VISIPLAS All-Steel Shelving System.

Critical aspects in the design of the VISIPLAS All-Steel Shelving System were the shelf size and required load capacity.  The shelf size of 1800mm clear entry (the dimension between the upright frames) is most commonly used to store products suited for this system and is the correct module for the range of VISIPLAS Picking Bins and Parts Trays.  These storage components are designed for a shelf depth of 600mm.  Shelving systems of this style are most commonly used in domestic (garage) applications and need a loading requirement of 200kgs to 250kgs per level. And also used in medium duty industrial and warehouse applications needing 300kgs to 400kgs per level.  So the design specification became 400kgs Uniformly Distributed Load to cover all applications.  The system has been designed and engineered in Australia referencing standards AS/NZS 4600:2018 Cold-formed Steel Structures and AS4084-2012 Steel Storage Racking.
